Jagan to reshuffle his cabinet again?

If reports doing rounds in the power corridors of Andhra Pradesh are to be believed, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to revamp his cabinet shortly.

According to these reports, Jagan is contemplating dropping three or four ministers, whose performance has not been up to the expectations, as was evident from a series of surveys he had commissioned in the last few months.

The chief minister has been periodically warning his party MLAs whose performance is not up to the mark, based on the feedback he had obtained from his survey teams, particularly Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC).

Even in the recent meeting with the ministers, MLAs, MPs and other senior leaders, Jagan expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of a few ministers and gave enough indications that at least 25-30 MLAs may have to be dropped for their non-performance.

In a bid to send a strong message to the non-performing ministers, Jagan might drop them from the cabinet and induct a few others who proved their loyalty and turned out to be efficiency in taking part in the government programmes.

The reports said Jagan might take up a cabinet reshuffle soon after the budget session of the assembly and before relocating his camp office to Visakhapatnam.

Actually, the ministers who were inducted in the last cabinet reshuffle in April last year are expected to continue in the next elections, but Jagan felt that some of them have turned out to be a liability for the party. So, they have to be shown the door, sources said.

“The sacked ministers would be given yet another chance to prove their mettle and an assurance that they would be taken back into the cabinet soon after the party returns to power in the next assembly elections,” sources said.

Apparently, Jagan is likely to induct a couple of MLCs and fresh faces among the MLAs into the cabinet, after dropping an equal number of ministers. It remains to be seen who will get the berth this time.
