Jagan to pick up too many BC MPs?

It appears YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister is obsessed with appeasing backward classes, thinking that they would be the backbone of his party in the upcoming elections.

According to party sources, Jagan is learnt to have decided to allocate a lion’s share of Lok Sabha seats to the OBCs in the next general elections.

“Out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, the YSRC chief has decided to field as many as 11 OBCs,” sources said.

The seats which are likely to be allotted to the OBCs are: Narasaraopet, Eluru, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, Anantapur, Hindupur, Srikakulam, Vizainagaram and Anankapalli.

Of the remaining 14 seats, five seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes – Amalapuram, Bapatla, Tirupati and Chittoor are for SCs and Araku for STs.

“So, only nine seats are left for the other castes, including Reddys, Kammas or minorities. One fails to understand how Jagan is going to satisfy these sections,” a party leader said.
