If everything goes according to the plan, YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is all set to commence his state-wide padayatra from coming Dasara in October.
According to sources close to YSR Congress party, Jagan has almost decided to take out the padayatra to galvanise the party cadre and win over all sections of people in the run-up to the next assembly elections.
His newly-nominated political strategist Prashant Kishor is understood to have advised him that it is the ripe time to go out on the padayatra on the lines of his father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, whose effort catapulted him to power in 2004.
It is learnt Prashant told Jagan that it would not be enough to hold rallies and public meetings at this stage.
He should have direct contact with the people and bring back the memories of his late father. The feedback obtained from the people would also help him formulate his next election manifesto.
Sources said Jagan might make an announcement about his padayatra on the last day of the YSRC plenary to be held in Amaravati from July 7 to 9.
Since the monsoon season has commenced, it might not be appropriate for Jagan to take up the tour now. Moreover, farmers will also be busy with their agriculture operations.
So, it would be better to start the foot-march after October and end it by the end of winter season, so that he would have ample time to prepare the party for the next elections, say sources.
