Jagan Falters In Media Management Again!

Jagan Falters In Media Management Again!

It has been four days since YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy started his Praja Sankalpam padayatra in a big way.

According to field reports, the response to his padayatra has been tremendous so far.

However, except Sakshi, the other media houses have largely ignored his padayatra.

On the first day, there was some coverage, but not prominently on page-1 in any of the major dailies, but from the subsequent days, there has not been much coverage at all.

Though Jagan has gone all the way to Ramoji Film City to seek the blessings of veteran media baron Ch Ramoji Rao for his padayatra, Eenadu has not been giving him the required coverage, but dismissing it in a para or two.

Andhra Jyothy, of course, will anyway not give any importance to Jagan, but highlighting anti-Jagan stories like Paradise Papers leak etc.

Even the local English papers have given little coverage to Jagan and the national media has completely ignored it from Day 2.

Coming to electronic media channels, barring again Sakshi, no other channel has been giving a big coverage.

On the Day 1 and partly on Day 2, popular channel TV9 gave some prominence to Jagan padayatra but stopped it later. So is the case with other channels like NTV and TV5.

So, where is the fault? Party sources say the fault lies with Jagan’s political advisor Prashant Kishor, whose team has failed to connect with the media.

The media management of YSR Congress party has been very poor right from the beginning and it is glaringly evident from the padayatra coverage.

“Jagan has to improve his media relations. There is no point in blaming the media as yellow media without learning the art of media management,” a party source commented.
