Is Government's Land Acquisition A New Ploy?

Is the Andhra Pradesh government playing a new game in the name of acquiring land for the new capital city? Or is it really convinced and committed to bring down the land rates that have gone sky high?

There are strong rumours that government is likely to pass an ordinance that land registrations and buying and selling of land should be banned in Krishna, Prakasam, Guntur and Vizag districts. However, what is interesting to note here is that people there must now sell their land only to the government and that too at the rates fixed by the government.

Usually, under the land acquisition policy, the buyers will have to shell out at least four times the government rate. So now the question all over is, has the government come up with this new plan to avoid paying such huge amounts? Or is the government really committed to the cause of controlling the spiraling land rates?

Meanwhile, there are huge acquisitions happening till Eluru in West Godavari district. But the district has not been listed under the banned districts category.
