Bharat Rashtra Samithi legislative council member and Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha is making desperate efforts to regain public attention and stay in the political spotlight, as both her own family and party appear to have sidelined her.
With no BRS leader or worker offering support at her events, Kavitha has been charting her own path, trying to connect with people through her organization, Telangana Jagruthi.
In her latest move, Kavitha announced plans for a major agitation demanding the implementation of 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in the upcoming local body elections.
She criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for failing to raise the BC reservation bill issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite visiting Delhi several times.
Issuing a strong warning to the state government, Kavitha said that if 42% BC reservations are not implemented, hundreds of nominations would be filed in every village as a form of protest during the elections.
She also mocked the BJP’s proposed "Telangana Vikasit Yatra" in support of the BC Bill, stating that unless the BJP clearly backs the legislation, people will not trust their political maneuvers, no matter how many rallies they hold.
Stepping up the agitation, Kavitha announced a massive Rail Roko protest on July 17 to press for BC reservations.
She urged citizens to reschedule travel plans between July 16 and 18. Kavitha added that various caste-based organizations, including SC and ST groups, are extending their support to the Telangana Jagruthi movement.
