If Not Guntur, It'll Be Vizag!

The Telugu Desam Party leaders appear to be virtually blackmailing the farmers of Guntur district who are refusing to part with their lands for the construction of new capital.

This was evident from the comments of AP Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu on Friday.

He said the farmers of Guntur would be losing a golden opportunity of transforming their region into a world-class capital in the coming years, if they refused to give their lands.

“If you are interested in parting with their lands, farmers of Visakhapatnam and surrounding areas ready to give their lands for the new capital. In that case, the capital will be shifted to Visakhapatnam,” Ayyanna Patrudu said.

On the other hand, Minister for Urban Development Narayana rejected the contention of actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan that there was no need for 30,000 acres to build the new capital.

“Yes, it requires just 8000 acres to build buildings for offices, residential quarters and courts. But, capital does not mean just buildings. It is a comprehensive plan keeping in view the requirements of people in the next two decades,” he said.
