Call it height of optimism or sycophancy, Telugu Desam Party MP from Narsaraopet constituency Rayapati Sambasiva Rao has predicted that TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu will continue to be the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for another 20 years.
Only two days ago, Rayapati critcisied that Naidu was neglecting the genuine party leaders and it would have serious effect on the party’s performance in the next elections.
As if to neutralise it, Rayapati went on praising the chief minister.
“I have never seen any chief minister like Naidu, who works day and night to develop the state. He doesn’t even care his health, but wants to make Andhra Pradesh the best state in the country. He is an undaunted leader in the country and he will continue to be the chief minister for another 20 years,” he said.
The prediction appears to be rather too unbelievable. At present, Naidu is 67 years old and he has to be the CM till he turns 87, if Rayapati is to be believed.
Whether he will have the patience till then is debatable. Moreover, his son Lokesh is already getting active and there are reports that he would take over from his father by 2019.
And finally, the TDP show is not very encouraging and it is doubtful whether it comes back to power in 2019. So, Rayapati has to be little practical in his predictions!
