With the TRS still actively poaching opposition party MLA’s, especially from the TDP, sensing that trouble might reach its doorstep, the Congress has shifted its MLAs to a camp in a three-star resort on the city outskirts, from where they will arrive at the legislative assembly en masse for voting on Monday morning.
The party has 17 MLAs in the Assembly and is expecting support from independent MLA, Madhav Reddy.
Even if Madhav Reddy changes his loyalty and casts his vote for the TRS, the Congress feels safe as long as its entire members vote for the official candidate, as the magic figure to win is now 17.
However, the Congress party's plans were not without drama when it emerged that one of its members, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, is holidaying in the US.
The Congress high command ordered Ajay to return to Hyderabad immediately to be in time for voting as the MLC election has emerged as a major prestige issue for the party.
