Focus On Krishna, Akkineni Lands

The latest news from T government is that they are now looking into how the land allotted to two leading film families has been used over the years.

In the past, land was allocated at very cheap rates to late legend Akkineni Nageswara Rao and superstar Krishna to develop their studios in Hyderabad.

However, apart from using the lands for setting up of film studios, there were complaints that some of the land was used for other commercial activities. Though there have been many complaints in the past too, the earlier governments chose to deal with them in different ways.

In case of superstar Krishna, it is being said that out of the 9.5 acres allotted to him, only 4 acres remain with the Padmalaya Studios. The rest of the land has either been given away to his kith and kin or sold for commercial purposes.

It is being said that the current valuation of this land would be around Rs 400 crore to Rs 500 crore. A few years back, a notification was given to Krishna and an attempt was made to take-over the land from Krishna. At that time, late Rajasekhara Reddy who was the CM came to his rescue and stalled the proceedings. Though the land rate was at Rs 5 lakh per acre, it was allotted to Krishna at the rate of Rs 8000 per acre.

Similarly, it is being said that out of the land allocated to Annapurna Studios, four acres is being used for other commercial activities.

So, right now, the issue involving both these film personalities has become a hot topic of discussion among film circles. Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) SK Sinha maintains that the land has been misused.
