Finally, Andhra assembly shifts from Hyderabad!

It is now official. The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council are now being completely shifted from Hyderabad to Amaravati lock, stock and barrel.

This was announced by Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on Sunday. According to him, the budget session of the AP assembly, likely to commence from March 3, will be held in the interim Assembly and Council complex at Velagapudi Secretariat complex.

The state-of-the-art legislature complex is ready for occupation in Amarvati and all the activities pertaining to the assembly session, including printing of budgetary papers and proceedings would be done in Amaravati itself.

In fact, the Speaker was keen on holding the monsoon session of the AP Assembly and Council in Amaravati, but the construction of the legislature complex was not completed by then.

“Now everything is ready. All the Assembly staff would also be shifting to Amaravati by February 25,” Kodela added.
