YSR Congress party on Friday came down heavily on Telugu Desam Party and its president N Chandrababu Naidu for “planting stories” in the yellow media on the alleged Enforcement Directorate report on money laundering by YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
YSRC spokesperson Vasireddy Padma alleged that Naidu had been resorting to such false propaganda as he has no answers to the pointed questions being posed by Jagan during his padayatra which has been drawing huge crowds.
“He has been scheming to reduce the impact and popularity of the Yatra by raking up the story, planted or otherwise, which could often be fly-by-night and be a one-time story and there would be no follow up,” she said.
The report about money laundering and shell companies which appeared in an English daily was carried by a section of vernacular press on the next day and Chandrababu Naidu started reacting to it and asking his cadre if we need such Leader of Opposition.
“On earlier occasion as well he made a big issue of Paradise Papers and when our leader has challenged him to prove charges or quit, he fell silent and crawled back,” Padma pointed out.
These are all one-timers and will hardly have any impact and the scheming comes out of fear unable to digest the growing popularity of Jagan in the ongoing Praja Sankalpa Yatra, she said.
“We will take up the issue with the concerned officials and facts will come out as the story was not properly sourced and the Chief Minister’s remarks are bound to boomerang as he has been trying to create an atmosphere of wrong doing which is not there,” she said.
