East India Company vs Kalvakuntla Company?

East India Company vs Kalvakuntla Company?

Majis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday made an interesting comment against the “Maha Kootami” or grand alliance of four opposition parties in Telangana, for which he faced a severe backlash from the Congress party.

Addressing a public meeting at Sangareddy, Owaisi described Maha Kootami as “East India Company of 2018.”

He was taking potshots at the attempts of the four parties -- Congress, Telugu Desam, Telangana Jana Samithi and CPI to form the grand alliance.

He sought to know whether TDP headed by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu or the Congress party could save the composite culture of Telangana.

“How can Naidu who is in Vijayawada or the Congress which rules from Delhi or the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which operates from Nagpur decide the fate of Telangana people? This is your state and only you should rule yourselves,” he asserted.

He asked the people to send the partners of this alliance back to where they belonged to.

Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao shot back at Owaisi.

“If Maha Kootami is East India Company, what is MIM? Is it Kalvakuntla company?” asked senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao, referring to Owaisi’s friendship with TRS president Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao.

He alleged that Owaisi was a sleeping partner of KCR. He said people were surprised as to why the MIM, which had once opposed Telangana formation, was now supporting the TRS.
