Did Naidu Expect Milk Bath From IYR?

What went wrong between former Andhra Pradesh chief secretary IYR Krishna Rao and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu that forced the latter to sack the former from the post of Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation?

Now that Rao is out of the post, he is said to be sharing his experiences with his friends and select media persons.

According to sources, Naidu wanted to consolidate the Brahmin vote bank by setting up the Brahmin welfare corporation and see that the scholarships and financial assistance be extended only to those who are supporting the TDP.

He directed that the beneficiaries of the corporation schemes be selected through Janma Bhoomi committees, who are filled with the TDP leaders and workers.

Secondly, Naidu also wanted that the corporation frequently conduct programmes pertaining to Brahmins, where the beneficiaries praised him and his government programmes.

Particularly, Rao was asked to conduct programmes like “ksheerabhisekham” (milk bath) of the CM portraits on the lines of similar milk bath being done for the portraits of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Apparently, Rao ignored these suggestions and categorically informed the local TDP leaders that he cannot act like a TDP functionary but as an official and would go strictly by the rules. Even the selection of beneficiaries would be done as per the norms and not on political lines.

And that led to the differences between IYR and Naidu. Finally, Rao’s postings in social media against the government came as the last straw that led to his sacking.
