Delhi Drama: Dalit CM For Telangana?

Delhi Drama: Dalit CM For Telangana?

In a startling development, the leak from Delhi indicates that the senior leaders of the Congress present in Delhi at the moment have raised the need to appoint a Dalit Chief Minister for Telangana.

They are concerned that making Revanth Reddy the CM may invite potential risks from the central BJP within next few months, given the legal cases against him. If such a scenario unfolds, the Telangana government could be dismantled swiftly.

Furthermore, it is speculated that the BJP at the center might attempt to sway approximately 10 MLAs to destabilize the government if a forward caste MLA is chosen as the CM. They argue that the BJP would be less likely to interfere if a Dalit is appointed as the CM due to concerns about an anti-Dalit image. Additionally, the senior Dalit candidates eligible for the CM position reportedly have no legal cases.

It remains uncertain whether the High Command agrees with this opinion, but discussions on this topic are currently ongoing.

It appears that a majority of senior Congress leaders are dissatisfied with the prospect of Revanth Reddy becoming the CM. Instead, they are inclined towards diverting the position to a senior Congress leader.

Revanth Reddy, who recently joined Congress and has been active only for the past two years, has now become eligible for the CM's position, a development that many party seniors find hard to accept.

While some believe that performance should be the primary criterion, others argue that seniority should also be taken into consideration.

Several senior Congress members find it challenging to envision themselves standing before Revanth Reddy with folded hands once he assumes the role of CM.
