For quite some time, there have been speculations in the political circles that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is cosying up with the Congress party, after snapping ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Whenever media asked the question, Naidu did not deny the speculations and but had been evading a direct answer, saying he did not want to react to speculations.
But on Saturday, Naidu gave enough hints that he may not be averse to joining hands with the Congress party.
Addressing Dharma Porata Deeksha at Ongole, Naidu gave a clean chit to the Congress party on the bifurcation of the combined state.
“The Congress party has realised its mistake of unscientifically dividing combined Andhra Pradesh. That is why it has given support to the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP in Lok Sabha against the Narendra Modi government on the injustice done to Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
Naidu was also all praise for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for speaking in favour of Andhra Pradesh during the debate in Rajya Sabha.
He even played the video clip of Manmohan Singh giving assurances including Special Category Status to AP on the floor of Rajya Sabha while passing the bill in 2014 and the video clip of him addressing the Rajya Sabha during the recent short duration discussion on AP Reorganisation Act.
“Singh clearly told that Special Category Status was assured to AP and it was done so in consultation with BJP expecting the next PM to honour the same. So, isn’t it the responsibility of the Prime Minister to honour the assurance of Special Category Status?” Naidu asked.
