Cong leaders owe apologies to workers

Telangana senior Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao on Friday demanded that the party senior leaders should apologize to the party activists for serious debacle in general elections.

VHR alleged that lack of coordination among the leaders led to the party’s debacle despite keeping the promise of Telangana Statehood.

He said he had written a letter to AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh requesting him to conduct a meeting exclusively for party activists.

“I appealed to Diggy that the AICC shift focus on the activists rather than trying to bring together the leaders for a two-day event to be held in August last week”, he said.

Workers are known for playing key role for any party and the leaders should not ignore them, Rao said.

He urged the Congress leaders in the State to focus on conducting a meeting for party activists. There is no need of conducting a party leaders’ workshop to be attended by AICC leaders, including AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

He expressed dismay over the leaders preferring to conduct a high-level meeting ignoring the activists.

“Though I don’t oppose such a meeting, it is the time to convince the activists at all levels and take them along”, he opined.
