Hyderabad-based socialite Tella Shilpa Chowdary, who collected crores of rupees from several women from high profile families in the name of investments into real estate business, purchasing luxury items and holding parties, is said to be closely related to a senior Telugu Desam Party leader from Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
More and more interesting aspects are coming to light during the police investigation.
Inquiries revealed that Shilpa is the sister-in-law of an industrialist-turned-senior leader, who had been a Lok Sabha member in the past from the Congress and the TDP.
The police said she had allegedly collected huge money from big people in the industrial, business and Tollywood circles and diverted the same for purchasing lands and a luxurious villa at Gandipet. She also produced a B-grade Tollywood movie during the lockdown.
A popular Tollywood producer-cum-distributor was also one of the victims of Shilpa’s tricks.
There were also reports that she had also duped Tollywood actor Sudheer Babu’s wife Priyadarshini of Rs 3.90 crore in the name of investment in real estate.
Shilpa and her husband Srinivas Prasad were arrested by the Narsingi police on Saturday last, following a cheating complaint was lodged by one of the victims Divya Reddy, who was influenced to invest Rs 2.5 crore in Shilpa’s “real estate business”. The couple is currently in judicial remand.
“Since most of the money parked by these high profile people with Shilpa is black money, nobody is coming forward openly to lodge complaints with police about the quantum of their loss. They are only asking the help of the police to see that they get back their money,” sources said.
It is not exactly known whether Shilpa has been maintaining any records of how much money she had collected from these high profile personalities. If the records, if any, come out, then it will be revealed how much each of them had lost.
