Lok Sabha MP from Kurnool Butta Renuka, who defected from YSR Congress party to the ruling Telugu Desam Party in October last, seems to have decided to dump the TDP, too, to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, before the next elections.
Though Renuka sent all her supporters into the TDP, she did not join the TDP formally by sporting the yellow khanduwa and take the official TDP membership, but declared her support to the Chandrababu Naidu government.
Though she had been moving with the TDP leaders in the district, she had been staying away from the party activities of either YSRC or the TDP.
Surprisingly, during the recent ruckus in Parliament on special category status, Renuka was nowhere to be seen, leading to a suspicion over her plans.
She has not uttered a single word in favour of special category status till date, creating a lot of confusion among the cadre as well as the party.
And as if giving a rude shock to Naidu, she quietly met Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with her family and spent some time with him. This happened at a time when Naidu was giving a call to fight against the Modi government tooth and nail.
Renuka told a media channel on Saturday that she had not yet decided from which party she would contest the next elections.
“I will take a call depending on the political situation prevailing then,” she said.
May be, she is considering joining the BJP which has good presence in Kurnool. And Modi might have given an assurance to see that she would win the elections at any cost!
