BJP Put Up Weak Candidates In TRS Seats?

Right from the beginning, there have been allegations against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi that it has a secret understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party and both the parties would indirectly cooperate with each other.

In the public, too, the TRS will not attack the BJP much and the BJP, too, will target the Congress party more than the TRS.

At the most, the BJP leaders would attack the MIM as part of its policy, knowing fully well that the BJP cannot win the MIM seats.

The TRS, too, will not disturb the MIM chances, thereby maintaining friendly relations with both the rival groups.

“The reason for dissolving the state assembly well in advance to go in for early polls is part of the understanding between the TRS and the BJP.

“While the BJP would indirectly help the TRS in assembly polls, the TRS will indirectly help the BJP in Parliament elections. If not, it will pledge its support to the NDA after the elections,” an analyst said.

As part of the understanding, the BJP has put very weak candidates against the TRS in the assembly elections, in the constituencies where the TRS has bright chances of winning.

But in the constituencies where the Congress and its alliance partners are in fray, the BJP has fielded relatively strong candidates so as to split the anti-TRS votes.

“This was indirectly admitted by the BJP spokesman in a television debate. He said the BJP does not mind losing in the assembly polls in exchange for support in Parliament elections.

“As the opposition consolidates under Congress, KCR will have great bargaining power with BJP to land himself in the Union Cabinet and execute the long rumoured succession plan to install his son, KTR as CM of Telangana,” the analyst said.
