Even as the debate over whether the Bharatiya Janata Party would have an alliance with the YSR Congress party continues to rage in the political circles with conflicting reports from both the parties, an interesting development took place in Amaravati on Wednesday.
BJP floor leader in Andhra Pradesh assembly P Vishnu Kumar Raju made a surprising appearance in the media centre at Velagapudi secretariat in Amaravati, where YSR Congress party MLA and public accounts committee chairman Buggana Rajendranath Reddy was addressing a press conference.
Much to the surprise of the media, the BJP MLA not only shared the dais with the YSRC leader, but also joined the latter in attacking the Chandrababu Naidu government, notwithstanding the fact that the BJP continues to be the political ally of the TDP and is part of the Naidu government.
Raju found fault with the chief minister for inducting four MLAs defected from YSRC into the state cabinet.
“First of all, it is wrong on the part of Naidu to allow the defected MLAs into the TDP without asking them to resign from their assembly membership, as per the anti-defection law.
And it is all the more atrocious to take four of these defectors into the cabinet and give them key portfolios.
Naidu should immediately sack all the four from the cabinet,” he said and also demanded the resignation of all the defected MLAs.
“If Naidu wants to continue the defectors in the cabinet, it is better he enact a new legislation making it legitimate to make the defected MLAs as ministers,” Raju ridiculed.
