With the unrest among the farmers of 14 villages against the construction of Mallanna Sagar reservoir is growing strongly, every political party has started supporting the agitation and gaining some political mileage.
So far, the Congress is leading the agitation from the front and the Left parties already made it an aggressive agitation.
Of late, the TDP also joined the agitation with Revanth Reddy taking up the cudgels against the TRS government. The only party which is lagging behind at present is the BJP, which has so far no policy or programme on the same.
Apparently realising this, the Telangana BJP started speaking about the issue, at least in milder tone.
Condemning the “lathi charge and firing” by police on protesters during an agitation against Mallanna Sagar project in Medak district, Telangana BJP is now demanding that the government call for an all-party meet to discuss redesigning of some of the irrigation projects.
“We oppose the lathi charge and firing on farmers and women who are losing their land to the Mallanna Sagar project. It is highly condemnable,” K Laxman, state BJP chief said.
“The government should call for an all-party meeting and take their opinion on redesigning of projects,” he added.
