18 months after bifurcation, the scene couldn't have been more starkly contrasting. KCR is sitting firmly ensconced in Telangana and on the verge of victory in GHMC too.
His son, KTR is being groomed to be the next CM and head of TRS. The only threat to his son, Harish Rao is successfully being kept at a distance.
But the biggest challenge to KCR, the TDP has been made a non-entity in Telangana and even in Hyderabad now. KCR can thank Revanth Reddy for that.
Naidu has stopped coming to Hyderabad and has even made friends with KCR to escape from the cash-for-vote case. The TDP was the only genuine threat to KCR’s hegemony.
On the other hand, Naidu did make it as CM of AP. But he has been leading a rather strange administration and discontent has been palpable right from day one in the Andhra people beginning with the lavish expenditure on his swearing-in ceremony.
And now he is enmeshed in problems so deep that he cannot look at Telangana for some time to come. Which means that KCR is now the undisputed lord of the region.
Unless of course, the GHMC results spring a surprise which considering the landscape appears very unlikely.
