Babu Deciding Andhra BJP Chief?

Babu Deciding Andhra BJP Chief?

If the reports from the Bharatiya Janata Party camp are to be believed, Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is playing a key role in deciding the next president of Andhra BJP.

According to these reports, Naidu is learnt to have conveyed to the top BJP leadership that it would not be in the interests of both the parties if leaders like Somu Veerraju are made the Andhra BJP president, since they spoil the relations between the two parties.

“We are maintaining a lot of restraint despite aggressive statements from Veerraju against the TDP and the government. If he is made the BJP president, then there would be quarrel every day,” Naidu is learnt to have told the central BJP leadership.

He also expressed his disapproval against Daggubati Purandeshwari being considered the BJP chief. Instead, he is learnt to have suggested the name of Narasimha Reddy, presently vice-president of AP BJP, for the top post.

Reddy, who hails from Chittoor district, has good relations with Naidu and is soft-spoken. Moreover, it would help Naidu take on YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy using Reddy tag.

In any case, the AP BJP does not seem to have intention to decide its own president and is forced to go by the whims and fancies of Naidu!
