'Anna Vasthunnadu' turns 'Praja Sankalpa Yatra'

'Anna Vasthunnadu' turns 'Praja Sankalpa Yatra'

The YSR Congress party appears to have rechristened the proposed padayatra of party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy from November 6 as “Praja Sankalpa Yatra.”

When it was announced, the party has mentioned it as “Anna Vasthunnadu” (Brother is coming). May be the party leadership later felt that it sounded similar to “Vasthunna Meekosam” (I am coming for your sake), the name of the padayatra taken by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu in 2013.

So, Jagan has finally coined the term Praja Sankalpa Yatra (Tour for the commitment of people), which sounds similar to “Praja Prasthaanam” (People’s march), the name given to the padaytra of his late father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in 2013.

The YSRC central committee had a prolonged meeting at the party office on Thursday to finalise the schedule of his padayatra.

The six-month long padayatra will cover over 3,000 kilometers criss-crossing 125 assembly constituencies in 13 districts of the state. In the remaining 50 constituencies, Jagan will tour by vehicle and meet all sections of the people.

During the padayatra, Jagan will address 5,000 road side meetings, 180 meetings with important influential groups and 125 massive public meetings. In all, he will reach out to two crore people.

Jagan will highlight the government's failures during the padayatra. Issues regarding plight of the farmers and government's failure in waiving farm loans, besides special category status issue, would be focussed during the tour.

The padayatra will begin at Idupulapaya and conclude at Ichapuram during which YS Jagan will interact with people to understand their grievances against the government and its policies.
