Anam Decides To Quit TDP On June 20?

It is now more or less certain that former minister and senior leader from Nellore Anam Ramnarayana Reddy is all set to quit the Telugu Desam Party.

Ramnarayana Reddy, who has been virtually in a dejected mood ever since his brother Anam Vivekananda Reddy a couple of months back, told his followers and supporters that he cannot continue in the TDP, as he has been feeling inconvenient for quite some time.

He held a meeting of his followers in Nellore on Wednesday night and told them that he would resign from the TDP on June 20 and announce his future course of action.

He, however, made it clear that he would contest the next assembly elections from Atmakur constituency itself.

“If I have to be in politics, I have to contest the elections. I will let you know which party I will choose to join very soon,” Anam told his supporters.

Apparently, Anam is upset for being ignored in the TDP, though he says he has no complaints against TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

“The party has given me due respect, but there has been no recognition to my seniority,” he said.

Indications are that Anam might join the YSR Congress party. However, it is not clear whether he got any firm assurance from party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on the ticket to contest the assembly elections from Atmakur.

Secondly, his entry into the paryt might cause heart burn in the local leaders of YSRC who have been opposing Anam brothers for quite some time.

Moreover, if Jagan wants to entertain Anam, he has to sacrifice sitting MLA of YSR Congress party Mekapati Gautam Reddy, son of Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy.

If Anam is given preference, the Mekapati family might revolt against Jagan. Therefore, it is unlikely that Jagan will give ticket to Anam at the cost of Mekapati family. May be, he will suggest another seat for Anam!
