A new chapter began in the Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday with the formal commencement of Secretariat at its temporary building constructed at Velagapudi.
Though the civil construction works in various blocks are still going on, the Chandrababu Naidu government started operating from the ground floor of the fifth block, which was readied in a record time.
The office was given a complete corporate look, as Naidu took it as a matter of prestige for him. Minister for Panchayat Raj Ayyanna Patrudu formally inaugurated his chamber and the office in the fifth block at 2.59 pm.
Along with it, three other ministries – Housing, Medical and Health and Labour departments started functioning from Velagapudi.
In the morning, hundreds of employees left Hyderabad in the early hours in several buses and reached Velagapudi by afternoon. They were given warm welcome by the local employees. More of their colleagues are planning to shift this week.
