Alliance with Pawan creating headache for Naidu?

Alliance with Pawan creating headache for Naidu?

For the last few days, there have been reports only about the internal turmoil within the YSR Congress party following party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s move to drop several sitting MLAs and reshuffling the constituencies of others.

But it appears a similar situation is prevailing in the Telugu Desam Party headed by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu as well, as discussions are going on with the Jana Sena Party headed by power star Pawan Kalyan over seat sharing.

So far, it looks like a calm before storm.

According to reports, discontent is simmering within the TDP over the possible seats to be allocated to the Jana Sena Party and it might erupt any time.

There has been a tough competition for certain seats within the TDP and if the party concludes the seat sharing pact with Jana Sena, then it would lead to severe revolt within the TDP.

For example, the TDP leaders in Tenali assembly constituency in Guntur district have been demanding that the constituency be retained by the TDP and former minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad alias Raja should contest the elections again.

They want that the seat should not be given, under any circumstances to the Jana Sena Party. However, Pawan Kalyan already announced that his right hand leader and Jana Sena political affairs committee convenor Nadendla Manohar would contest from Tenali.

Now, if the TDP strikes a deal with Jana Sena, it should leave the seat to Nadendla. This is being strongly resisted by the followers of Raja. They are bringing pressure on him not to allow any such deal with Jana Sena.

They have threatened that if the seat is allocated to Jana Sena, they would quit the TDP en masse. On Tuesday, the local TDP leaders met Alapati Raja and conveyed their decision. He, however, requested them not to take any hasty decision and wait for the party to make an announcement.

Similar situation is said to be prevailing in many other constituencies in East and West Godavari districts, sources said.
