Alla has become a thorn in flesh for Naidu!

YSR Congress party MLA from Mangalagiri Alla Ramakrishna Reddy has become a hard nut to crack for Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with regard to construction of capital city of Amaravati.

The entire capital region falls under Mangalagiri constituency and Naidu cannot move further bypassing Alla.

While the chief minister managed to mobilise 35,000 acres of land for Amaravati through land pooling, he is not able to acquire even a single yard in three villages – Vundavalli, Penumaka and Tadepalli – abutting Mangalagiri.

For Naidu, these three villages are crucial, because they form the entry into the proposed world-class capital city.

His idea is to develop Vundavalli as a major tourist attraction and a gateway into Amaravati. Similarly, the eight-lane expressway connecting national highway with Amaravati has to pass through Penumala and Tadepalli.

So, without acquiring lands from the farmers of these villages, Amaravati capital construction will remain incomplete.

But the farmers, under the leadership of Alla, have been refusing to give up their lands which are yielding three crops a year.

Since the villages are adjacent to the national highway and are closer to Vijaywada and Guntur, the land value has gone up steeply and the farmers are not ready to forego such high value lands for pittance offered by the government.

That is precisely why the Naidu government is trying to apply pressure on Alla, but the latter has come a thorn in the flesh of chief minister.

And as long as he is the MLA, the TDP government cannot touch the lands of the farmers!
