All Party Meeting Lost Its Steam!

The all-party meeting called by Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday to discuss the strategy to be adopted to achieve special category status to the state has lost its steam completely with all major parties boycotting it.

While the BJP stayed away from the meeting for obvious reasons as it cannot demand special category status, YSR Congress party and the Jana Sena Party said they would not like to be party to Naidu’s decisions, as he had taken several U-turns on the special category status issue.

“Naidu lacks sincerity. After failing to put pressure on the Centre for four years, he is now trying to create an impression that he is leading the agitation on special category status,” Jagan said.

Only the Congress, CPI, CPI (M), Aam Admi Party and Pratyaka Hoda Sadhana Samithi leader Chalasani Srinivasa Rao and others attended the meeting.

Naidu gave an explanation to them that he had called for an emergency all-party meeting on the issue because the political situation was fast changing in Delhi.

“I have no inhibitions in talking to anybody who comes forward to fight for the cause,” he said.

However, sources said the Communist leaders had pulled up Naidu for reacting so late on the issue while keeping silent for four years.

“You should have launched the fight four years ago. Who will believe you if you say you are fighting against the Centre?” CPI (M) leader P Madhu asked.
