Akhila skips Naidu deeksha: What's up?

The conspicuous absence of Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya at the Nava Nirmana Deeksha held by party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Jonnagiri in Kurnool district on Sunday raised many eyebrows.

Being a minister from Kurnool district, she was supposed to not only make arrangements for the Nava Nirmana Deeksha, but also attend the meeting along with her followers. However, she was nowhere to be seen in the meeting.

Along with Akhila, who represents Allagadda constituency, Banaganapalle MLA BC Janardhan Reddy and other senior TDP leaders were also absent at the meeting.

In fat, Janardhan Reddy also abstained from the recently held Mahanadu, the party’s annual conclave held recently in Vijayawada.

In fact, Akhila was also not prominently seen at Mahanadu. While every other young leader showed enthusiasm in speaking at Mahanadu, Akhila remained passive.

It is learnt the simmering differences among the Akhila group and A V Subba Reddy groups are believed to be the reason for her indifferent attitude.

However, party sources are trying to defend her absence.

“She is busy with her marriage works. She was recently engaged to her boyfriend and she is not finding much time to participate in the party activities,” a TDP leader said.

Akhila has not been feeling comfortable ever since Naidu pulled her up in front of her rival TDP leader Subba Reddy. He also expressed anger at her for not taking active role in the state politics.

The TDP president made it clear that he would take a decision on whom to give the party ticket for Allagadda in the next elections based on his own survey. This has upset Akhila very much.

She expected that Naidu would give her a firm assurance for the party ticket in the next elections.
