With just one and a half years to go for the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, the ruling YSR Congress party has decided to step up the party campaign using social media, not only to take the achievements of the Jagan government, but also to strongly counter the vilifying campaign by the opposition.
For the first time in the last three years, the YSRC has started focussing on its strengthening its social media network by organising a workshop of the party’s social media wing at Tadepalli office on Tuesday.
Addressing the social media warriors of the party, YSRC general secretary and advisor to the government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the guiding principle of all the party wings was the leadership of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his welfare agenda.
He said the social media wing of the party should take the lead role in creating a positive image among the people towards the government and at the same time, rebutting the negative campaign being unleashed by the opposition.
“We need to highlight the failure of the TDP, while explaining the achievements of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. Particularly, the social media wing has to be very active in thwarting the attempts of the TDP to indulge in character assassination of our leaders,” he said.
Sajjala said the prime focus of the social media wing of the party should be creating an awareness among the people that if the TDP comes to power again, all the welfare schemes being implemented by the Jagan government would come to a halt.
“The TDP has been campaigning that the welfare schemes of Jagan, particularly in health and education sector, are a waste of money. This should be strongly repulsed by our social media wing,” he said.
Sajjala also warned that all the political rivals of the YSRC were trying to join hands to see that the YSRC does not come to power again.
“Right now, attempts are being made behind the screen and very soon, they will come into the open. These unholy alliances will not succeed, but if they succeed, the state would go back into a dark era. The social media has to explain these facts to the people,” he said.
The YSRC leader advised the social media workers to be cautious while commenting on the Constitutional institutions.
“Let us give due to respect to these institutions and be responsible in our comments. Let us not fall into the trap of our rivals,” he suggested.
