Why not executive capital at Kurnool, asks TDP leader

Why not executive capital at Kurnool, asks TDP leader

At a time when Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is strongly pitching for retention of the capital city at Amaravati, his party colleague and former minister Amarnath Reddy came up with an interesting suggestion.

He said he would welcome if the Jagan Mohan Reddy government forms the executive capital in Rayalaseema instead of Visakhapatnam, as part of the decentralisation of the administration.

“Let the government shift the state secretariat and other state government offices to Kadapa or Kurnool or Tirupati. The people of Rayalaseema would definitely support the government,” Amarnath Reddy said, while reviewing the arrangements for the public meeting at Amma Cheruvu in Tirupati rural mandal.

He wondered what would the people of Rayalaseema benefit if the judicial capital is located at Kurnool, while the executive capital is being shifted to Visakhapatnam.

“We don’t want this drama. Let all the three be located at one place in Rayalaseema,” he said.

Amarnath Reddy said during the Chandrababu Naidu regime, several companies were brought to Rayalaseema.

“Where are those companies now? All of them have disappeared now,” he alleged.
