Why didn't Naidu build super-speciality hospitals in AP?

Andhra Pradesh state government’s advisor (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy pooh-poohed the criticism of the Telugu Desam Party leaders that patients from the state were forced to go to Hyderabad for better treatment due to lack of super-speciality healthcare in Andhra.

“Yes, it is true that there are no super speciality hospitals in Andhra Pradesh. Bt what did the Chandrababu Naidu government do during its five-year rule? Had Naidu construct super speciality hospitals in Andhra Pradesh during his tenure, the present situation would not have arisen,” Sajjala said.

Stating that the bifurcation of combined Andhra Pradesh was done in the most unscientific manner, Sajjala said AP was left with cities with poor medical infrastructure, while Telangana was gifted with better facilities.

“Hyderabad has been the common capital for 10 years. But we have lost it because of Chandrababu Naidu, who ran away from the common capital. Because of him, the people of Andhra are deprived of the facilities in AP,” he alleged.

Reacting to the stoppage of ambulances of Andhra by the Telangana police on the borders, stating that there were no permissions for entry, Sajjala expressed surprise as to why the Telangana government was objecting to the entry of Andhra patients, when there were no such restrictions in going to Chennai and Bengaluru for better treatment. 

“We are maintaining restraint and talking to the officials in Telangana. If there are any issues, we shall approach the court of law,” Reddy said.
