YSR Congress Party leader and former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who has reportedly been suffering from health issues for the past two days, faced another setback on Monday as a Nuzvid court dismissed his bail petition in a case related to the distribution of fake house site pattas (title deeds).
After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge rejected the bail plea and issued the corresponding orders. Vamsi is currently lodged in Vijayawada jail following his arrest in the case.
Over the past few days, Vamsi’s health condition has reportedly worsened, leading to frequent transfers between jail and hospital.
On Monday, he was shifted to Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) due to severe respiratory problems.
Initially, he was supposed to be moved to Vijayawada GGH, but due to the unavailability of specialists there, he was referred to Guntur GGH instead. Medical examinations at Guntur revealed several concerning health issues.
Apart from respiratory problems, Vamsi is also reportedly suffering from neurological complications.
According to the official health bulletin, doctors diagnosed him with seizures (fits) and noted that he experiences interrupted breathing during sleep — a possible symptom of sleep apnea.
However, since Guntur GGH lacks the facilities for a sleep test (polysomnography), which is crucial to further assess the condition, Vamsi has been referred to another hospital equipped with the necessary facilities.
The GGH Superintendent stated that Vamsi was examined by a general physician and a pulmonologist. Although serious health issues were identified, doctors noted that there was no immediate danger to his life.
Accordingly, he has been referred to either the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) or another hospital of his choice where a sleep test can be conducted.
Despite being aware of Vamsi’s fragile health condition, the police have continued to move him between police stations, courts, and hospitals.
This has raised concerns among his family members and YSRCP leaders, who have expressed their distress over the situation.
Former YSRCP minister Perni Nani warned that if anything happens to Vamsi, the government will be held responsible.
