Senior YSR Congress party leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has become a big headache for the present board headed by TV5 chairman B R Naidu, as the former has been consistently targeting the latter for any decision.
What is causing worry for B R Naidu is that every proposal that is being discussed internally within the TTD is being attacked by Bhumana even before the trust board takes any decision on it.
Apparently, the TTD chairman has realised that there are several covert operatives that are said to be thriving inside the organisation and they were leaking crucial information to Bhumana regularly.
According to sources, B R Naidu is now focussing on identifying Bhumana’s coverts in the TTD and sacking them on one pretext or the other.
On Wednesday, he announced termination of as many as 45 employees across various departments in the TTD within a week for multiple reasons, citing disciplinary grounds.
A couple of days ago, Bhumana alleged that a real estate company named G-Square, based in Coimbatore, had written to chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in August seeking permission to build a TTD temple within its premises.
He claimed that Naidu, following a verbal discussion with the TTD chairman, had directed officials to place the proposal before the upcoming TTD Trust Board meeting for a decision.
“The Board Cell has mentioned this as the 24th item on the meeting agenda,” Bhumana stated.
However, TTD officials have clarified that the date and agenda for the Trust Board meeting have not yet been finalized, raising questions over how Bhumana knew the internal agenda details in advance.
The Board Cell is responsible for preparing the agenda, which is later reviewed and discussed by senior TTD officials — a process that typically begins a week before the meeting. Hence, Bhumana’s prior knowledge of the agenda has sparked suspicions of insider leaks.
Three months ago, Bhumana had publicly claimed that over 2,000 of his supporters still hold positions within TTD, and the latest episode appears to confirm his continued influence.
Employees also recalled that a key official in the Board Cell was appointed during Bhumana’s tenure, possibly explaining the flow of internal information.
