TDP MLC Quits Council Seat: What's Up?

TDP MLC Quits Council Seat: What's Up?

In a surprising development, Telugu Desam Party leader from Kadapa and state legislative council member B Tech Ravi on Friday announced resignation from his MLC seat.

Ravi reportedly told party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu that he had taken the decision to quit his MLC seat in protest against the assent given by Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan to the two bills pertaining to the state capital – decentralisation of administration by forming three capitals and abolition of AP capital region development authority.

He apparently told the TDP chief that he was pained at the way the Governor had taken the decision which was against the aspirations of the people of the state.

It is not exactly known whether he had sent the resignation letter directly to council chairman Mohd Ahmed Sharif or only to Naidu.

However, there have been reports that B Tech Ravi, who was also questioned in the Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case, has been contemplating joining the Bharatiya Janata Party for quite some time.

He is said to be in touch with former TDP leader and presently BJP MP CM Ramesh, who is also from Kadapa.

It may be mentioned that B Tech Ravi had defeated Vivekananda Reddy in the MLC elections braving the YSR Congress influence.

He was supported by Jammalamadugu TDP leader C Adinarayana Reddy, who later defected to the BJP and also Ramasubba Reddy, who defected to the YSRC.

Though he is said to be a staunch loyalist of the TDP, the changed political equations in the district are said to be compelling him to switch over to the BJP.
