TDP leaders get bail in Punganuru violence

TDP leaders get bail in Punganuru violence

In a temporary relief to the Telugu Desam Party leaders, the Andhra Pradesh high court on Monday granted conditional anticipatory bail to four of them in connection with the violence at Angallu village of Annamayya district and Punganuru town in Chittoor district early this month.

Those who got the bail included: former minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao, TDP in-charge of Pileru assembly constituency Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy and Chandragiri TDP in-charge Pulivarthi Nani in the Angallu violence case.

Similarly, anticipatory bail was also granted to Challa Babu, in-charge of the TDP in Punganur, in the violent attack on police at Punganuru. Out of seven cases, he was granted bail in four cases and the high court rejected bail in three other cases.

The first three TDP leaders – Devineni, Nallari and Pulivarthi were asked not to enter Annamayya district for four weeks and the high court ordered that they should appear in the Kurnool III Town police station every Sunday.

It may be mentioned that the police had booked an attempt-to-murder case against TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Angallu and Punganuru cases.

However, Naidu refused to appeal for any anticipatory bail in these cases, as he alleged the police had filed false against him though he was no way concerned with the violence.

He, in fact, alleged that the YSRCP leaders themselves attacked him but foisted false cases against him.
