TDP Bears the Burden, Jana Sena Stays Distant

TDP Bears the Burden, Jana Sena Stays Distant

On May 2, the Chandrababu Naidu government is set to kickstart the reconstruction of Amaravati, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has taken this event as a matter of prestige and is planning a massive public meeting following the formal launch. He has issued clear instructions to mobilize large crowds from across the state.

In this context, TDP leaders in every constituency have been holding meetings and making extensive efforts to gather people for the Amaravati event. However, on the ground, it appears that the entire exercise is being treated solely as a TDP affair.

Jana Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has reportedly given no instructions or guidance to his party cadres regarding Modi’s visit.

No message or directive has gone out from the Jana Sena leadership asking its members to attend the Amaravati event — raising eyebrows and sparking discussions.

Another alliance partner, the BJP, is showing a similar lack of involvement. But given BJP’s limited presence in the state, its non-participation in the mobilisation effort hasn't raised concerns.

In contrast, the apparent disinterest from Jana Sena leaders and workers in the Amaravati reconstruction has led to various interpretations.

Notably, Pawan Kalyan’s name was initially missing from the official invitation for the event. Only after backlash from Jana Sena’s social media activists was the invite reprinted with his name included.

Despite this correction, Jana Sena leaders remain upset, believing that the omission was a deliberate attempt to sideline their leader.

This has now given the party an excuse to stay away from crowd mobilisation.

Additionally, there's speculation that Jana Sena is also unhappy with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Narayana's plans to acquire over 40,000 acres for the capital.

This dissatisfaction is said to be one of the reasons why the party is keeping a deliberate distance from the Amaravati issue.

Jana Sena’s lack of effort in mobilizing public support stands as a clear indicator of its disengagement from the capital development plans.
