Stone pelting at Jagan: Accused gets bail

The Seventh Additional District and Sessions Court in Vijayawada on Tuesday granted bail to Vemula Satish, the prime accused in the case of stone-pelting at YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Court judge D Lakshmi, ordered that Satish be enlarged on bail upon execution of a bond for Rs 50,000 with two sureties for a like sum each to the satisfaction of the Vijayawada Metropolitan Magistrate.

Jagan was attacked with a small stone by Satish, when the former was taking out a rally as part of “Memantha Siddham” campaign at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada, on April 13.

Satish, who belongs to the Vaddera community, was arrested a week after the incident and has been in jail for over six weeks.

Satish filed a bail petition and the inquiry for this bail petition took place earlier today at Vijayawada’s 8th Additional District Court. Advocate Salim, representing Satish, argued that Satish was innocent and had been wrongfully involved by the police.

After hearing the arguments, the magistrate reserved the verdict on Monday and delivered it on Tuesday.
