Section 144 in Amaravati, as farmers protest!

The Thullur police in Amaravati imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Cr PC and Section 34 of the Police Act on Thursday in the entire capital region in the wake of the people calling for a bandh in protest against the proposal to create three separate capital for Andhra Pradesh in place of Amaravati.

The police told the villagers not to create disturbance to the peace in the capital region and block roads causing inconvenience to the commuters. They, however, suggested that the farmers can agitate peacefully. They warned of strict action against those who violated the law.

Schools, businesses, government offices and hotels have been shut down in the wake of farmers' calls for bandh in 29 villages in the capital. Farmers and laborers launched relay hunger strikes in Velagapudi.

On the other hand, the police are heavily deployed in the capital. Tight Security was set up heavily in villages within the capital. Three additional SPs, 10 DSPs, 20 CIs and 30 SIs are monitoring the Law and order.

The farmers of Amaravati took to the streets to protest against the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's announcement of rooting three capitals to the state. They demand full-fledged capital be at Amaravati.
