Sai Reddy Leaves His Exile, To Become Active

Rajya Sabha member and ruling YSR Congress General Secretary V Vijayasai Reddy is all set to end his self-imposed exile and become active in the party soon.

Sai Reddy, as he is known among party leaders and workers, has been keeping a low profile for quite a while. He has neither been seen nor heard in the recent past, even when the state government held its prestigious investors' summit in Visakhapatnam.

There were widespread speculations about his exile, and at one point, it was speculated that he would switch his loyalties to the BJP in Delhi. However, the dust seems to have settled with Sai Reddy having a closed-door meeting with Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy this week.

Misunderstandings were cleared in the meeting, and Jagan Mohan Reddy is learned to have asked Sai Reddy to take care of party affairs, sitting in the party central office at Tadepalli.

As elections are just 12 months away, Sai Reddy was asked to handle the disgruntlement among party leaders by holding talks with the sulking leaders. He was also given the task of convincing party MLAs who are likely to be denied a ticket in the next election.

"Party is greater than persons," is what Jagan Mohan Reddy is thinking now, and that had formed the crux of his recent meeting with former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy from Prakasam district.

Sai Reddy would now be handling party affairs and holding meetings with the leaders from now on. Thus, he would be reducing the burden on Jagan Mohan Reddy about the disgruntlement in the party and focusing more on winning the 2024 general election.

It remains to be seen how successful this arrangement would be in the days to come as the party walks to win its next electoral battle in the state.
