YSR Congress party general secretary and parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy on Wednesday honoured with the prestigious “Sansad Ratna” (jewel of parliament) award by the Central government for the year 2022-23.
Sai Reddy was given the award under the parliamentary standing committee category. He is the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee for transport, tourism and culture from Rajya Sabha.
Chairman of the finance committee from Lok Sabha and Bharatiya Janata Party member from Jharkhand Jayant Sinha also another Sansad Ratna award winner under parliamentary standing committee category.
Former Rajya Sabha member and CPI (M) leader T K Rangarajan has been honoured with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lifetime Achievement Award.
Apart from these, another 13 MPs – eight from Lok Sabha and five from Rajya Sabha, including those from the Congress, the BJP and even the Left parties received the Sansad Ratna awards for the year 2022-23.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Parliamentary affairs minister Prahlad Joshi issued statements congratulating the fellow MPs for winning the Sansad Ratna awards.
Modi wished that the awardees would cooperate with the government in the smooth conduct of parliamentary proceedings in a meaningful manner.
