Senior IPS officer and former Andhra Pradesh intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, who was arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in the evaluation process of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group-1 examinations, has been granted interim bail by the court on Wednesday.
The special court for ACB cases in Vijayawada granted him interim bail, valid for 14 days, on health grounds.
Anjaneyulu, currently undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital in Vijayawada, submitted medical reports to the court citing high blood pressure and heart-related ailments.
His family is reportedly planning to shift him to Hyderabad for better medical care.
Anjaneyulu and another accused, Dhatri Madhu, were arrested by the police for their alleged roles in the evaluation scandal.
Both were lodged in Vijayawada sub-jail and were questioned separately during the investigation. Anjaneyulu had filed multiple bail petitions earlier, but they were rejected.
The court had recently extended the judicial remand of Anjaneyulu till June 19, but considering the deterioration of his health, he filed a petition seeking medical attention.
The court responded by directing the government to conduct a thorough health examination and submit the report. Based on the findings, the court granted him interim bail.
