Pawan Kalyan crossing his limits, say Vizag cops

Jana Sena Party president and power star Pawan Kalyan may have to face a ban on his rallies and roadshows in Visakhapatnam in the coming days, as the city police have warned him against going overboard in attacking the YSR Congress party government in general and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in particular.

Visakhapatnam assistant commissioner of police Narasimha Murthy said Pawan Kalyan was crossing his limits by making inflammatory speeches in public during his Varahi Yatra and also at press conferences.

The police served notices on the power star asking why action should not be initiated against him for violating the law.

On Saturday, the Jana Sena Party chief visited the residence of a woman, who was allegedly killed by a volunteer in Visakhapatnam recently. He alleged that the village and ward volunteers appointed by the YSRCP, were acting like a “Dandu Palyam” batch, indulging in indiscriminate violence.

“There is no difference between Dandu Palyam gangs and YSRCP volunteers. They are entering into the houses of women and slitting their throats,” he alleged.

During his Varahi Yatra at Jagadamba Centre on Thursday, the actor levelled several allegations against the volunteers, Andhra University, and the state government. He alleged that the ruling YSR Congress Party leaders were eyeing the lands and properties in North Andhra.

“They tried to loot Hyderabad, but were kicked out from there. Now, they are exploiting north Andhra. Rushikonda hill offers protection from cyclones in the region. The ruling YSRCP leaders are looting lands and properties here. They did the same in Telangana. How many houses does Jagan want?” he asked.

Dubbing Jagan as a businessman, the film actor said it was a pity that a `quarter’ bottle of liquor that cost only Rs 60 was now charged Rs 160 and belt shops had yielded place to mobile belt shops where liquor is delivered at the door.

Pawan Kalyan also expressed concern at the alarming fall in standards at the Andhra University which he alleged had become an office of the ruling YSRCP.

“The ranking of Andhra University at the national level has fallen from 29 to 76 in five years. The Vice-Chancellor has made the campus as YSRCP office. I will complain to the union Ministry of Human Resources Development about this,” he warned.

He also alleged that Visakhapatnam had become a place for land mafia, illegal mining, and ganja smuggling and said the day would come when he would ensure that the Centre sent the Jagan government packing.

The Vizag ACP said all the allegations levelled by Pawan were baseless and were aimed at instigating the people against the government. “Such inflammatory speeches are illegal as per law,” he said.

If Pawan continues to make allegations against the government, YSRCP or other individuals, the police would not give permissions to his further meetings, apart from taking action as per the law, the ACP said.
