Parents of Jagan's ex-secretary get police notice

Retired IAS officer Dr P V Ramesh, who served as additional secretary to Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy till November 2020 before he stepped down from the post voluntarily, is once again back in the news.

His parents – Penumaka Subba Rao and Penuamaka Mani, both in their ‘80s – were served notices by the Patamata police station in Vijayawada under Section 41 (A) of Criminal Procedure Code asking them to appear before the police on January 22, between 10 am and 5 pm.

A team of three people from Vijayawada police station came down to Ramesh’s residence at Kondapur and issued notices to his parents. The retired IAS officer was not there at house at that time.

The notice said Ramesh’s parents have to be questioned to ascertain fans and circumstances from them in connection with the investigation being probed into the case filed against them in 2018 under Section 498 (A) (domestic violence) and Section 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act.

The parents told the reporters that they had absolutely no idea about the case, which could have been filed at the behest of their son-in-law Sunil Kumar, chief of Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department. They refused to divulge further about the case.

Ramesh Kumar, who earlier retired as special chief secretary in the CMO, was taken back into the CMO by Jagan Mohan Reddy as additional secretary in the CMO, to look after the issues concerned with medical and health affairs. It was a sort of advisory post in the CMO.

However, he was stripped of his responsibilities within a year. Peeved with this, Ramesh Kumar quietly resigned from his post which was accepted immediately by Jagan.

Recently, his name also surfaced in the sensational Skill Development Corporation scam being probed by the CID and he was served notices for questioning.
