Panic to Relief: YCP's Strong Comeback

Panic to Relief: YCP's Strong Comeback

YCP supporters say the cadre is finally feeling relieved after a prolonged phase of anxiety.

In the beginning, many YCP supporters and cadre were shocked by the allegations that Tirumala laddu ghee had been adulterated with beef tallow, lard and fish oil, a charge first raised by Chandrababu Naidu.

According to them, there was a real fear within the party that this narrative had been successfully pushed by the TDP and that it could damage YCP’s long term future by misleading the public and hurting its credibility.

However, they point out that the situation began to change after the SIT report on ghee, reportedly went against Chandrababu Naidu and public interest in the issue started fading.

Many people, they claim, started viewing the controversy as political rather than devotional. This shift in perception has lifted the morale of the cadre.

They also feel that the attacks by TDP supporters on the houses of Ambati Rambabu and Jogi Ramesh created sympathy and anger at the ground level, which in turn helped YCP regain its fighting spirit.

At the same time, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s brief but active presence in the media for two to three days drew significant attention and energised party workers.

There is a strong belief among them that if he continues to take an aggressive stand as Leader of the Opposition for a longer stretch, the momentum will grow further.

From their perspective, the overall traction for the YCP has increased in key regions such as Amaravati, Vijayawada and Guntur, areas that are generally seen as TDP strongholds.

They now argue that the Tirumala laddu issue, instead of weakening the party, has brought the cadre together and made the organisation stronger with renewed confidence.
