Officer Who Praised Roja Suspended!

Commissioner of Nagari Municipality in Chittoor district K Venkatarami Reddy had to face the axe for making certain adverse comments against the government during the crisis of Covid-19.

The YSR Congress government on Friday suspended Reddy for violating the discipline being a government servant and getting involved in political conversation during the crises of Covid-19, which is against to Rule 17 (1) of AP Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964.

“It is further ordered that during the period of this order remains in force, he shall remain in Nagari and not leave the headquarters without permission,” the order said.

Reddy, who is from Kadapa, the native of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, shot into controversy by releasing a self-video to the media stating that there was no help whatsoever forthcoming from the government to fight the Coronavirus.

He said despite four positive cases of covid-19 in the city, the government has not been granting the required funds.

“All the accounts have been seized. There is no way we can spend money on the Covid-19 relief works,” he said.

Interestingly, the municipal commissioner lavished praise on YSRC MLA from Nagari R K Roja.

“The MLA has been doing an excellent job, coming to the rescue of the people in her own way. She is providing money to the people in five mandals. One should have such an MLA, who regularly alerts officials. Despite being a woman, she is daringly coming forward to help the people. All the other leaders are just for name sake and have not been coming to the rescue of the people,” he said.

He also thanked Roja for extending financial help to the needy, though certain business people are blaming the officials for not doing anything during the Covid-19 period.
