Of 15 MLCs In Jagan Regime 12 Are Dalit Bahujans

It is quite interesting to note the style of working of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He has been branded as cash giver by his critics, as he continues the welfare agenda of his party.

While continuing the welfare agenda, Jagan Mohan Reddy is also following the social engineering, by giving priority to the neglected sections of the society.

Creation of caste-based corporations and giving political representation to more than 50 castes for the first time after Independence is to be a point to mention.

The other major indication to see and analyse the administration of Jagan Mohan Reddy is the representation he is giving to fill the MLC seats in the state.

Ever since he assumed charge as chief minister in 2019, there were 15 MLCs elected by the MLAs or nominated by the Governor.

Out of these 15 MLCs, 12 are from the SC, ST, BC and Minority communities, leaving three for the OCs.

There are four MLCs from the SC community - P Ravindra Babu (SC), Balli Kalyana Chakravarti (SC), Dokka Manikya Varaprasad (SC) and Koyya Moshen Raju (SC).

There are five MLCs from the BCs - Mopidevi Venkata Ramana (BC),Duvvada Srinivas (BC), Potula Sunita (BC), Ramesh Yadav (BC) and C Ramachandraiah (BC).

The Minorities were given three MLCs - Zakia Khanum (Minority), Muhammad Iqbal (Minority) and Mohammed Karimunnisa (Minority).

The only three OCs, who got MLCs posts during Jagan’s two years are Challa Bhagirathareddy (OC), Lella Appireddy (OC) and Thota Trimurthulu (OC).
