Till now, the YSR Congress party leaders, including party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, have been attacking Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh and “adopted son” – Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan.
Day in and day out, the ruling party leaders have been mainly concentrating on attacking these three opposition leaders. Of course, there are other leaders from the TDP and Jana Sena who have been facing the attack from the YSRCP occasionally, depending on the political development.
There were hardly any instances of YSRCP leaders attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party and its leaders, because Jagan has been maintaining friendly relationship with the leaders of the BJP high command in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular.
Even if a couple of YSRC leaders reacted to any criticism from the local BJP leaders, it was only mild and never harsh.
In fact, even the BJP leaders like Somu Veerraju and Vishnu Vardhan Reddy were targeting the TDP more than the YSRC.
But now, newly-appointed BJP president of Andhra Pradesh Daggubati Purandeshwari has also come under the firing range of the YSRCP.
Ever since she took over as the state BJP president in July, she has been firing her salvos at the YSRC and the chief minister on various issues.
What is causing anger to the YSRC leaders is the way Purandeshwari is taking initiatives to bring the TDP closer to the BJP top brass.
They have already started criticising for parroting the script of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, who happens to be her brother-in-law.
Initially they thought Purandershwari would not entertain Naidu, as she and her husband Daggubati Venkateshwar Rao had been the bitter critics of the TDP chief.
In fact, Venkateshwar Rao even wrote a book on Naidu’s backstabbing of his father-in-law N T Rama Rao in 1995.
However, things have changed of late and all the family members of NTR had come together (except of course Jr NTR, who is still keeping away from Naidu and the TDP).
And Purandeshwari is making efforts to bring about a patch up between the TDP and the BJP.
The coming together of all the NTR family members at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the release of a commemorative coin on the legendary actor on Monday at the behest of Purandeshwari was the flashpoint for YSRC to launch a tirade against her.
YSRC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy lashed out at Purandeshwari for taking Naidu along with Venkateshwar Rao to BJP national president J P Nadda to talk about BJP-TDP alliance issue, though Nadda was not interested in it.
He even took pot shots at the BJP leadership for handing over the key to the thief (Purandeshwari), who is part of the gang of thieves.
YSRC leader and NTR’s widow Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi also declared that hereafter, Purandeshwari was also her big enemy, along with Naidu.
“Despite being the BJP president, she is working for the TDP, after joining hands with her brother-in-law,” she criticised.
LP warned that Purandeshwari was sure to face humiliation in the hands of Naidu. She alleged that Bhuvaneshwari and Purandeshwari had betrayed their father and stalled the Centre’s move to award Bharat Ratna to NTR.
“I will not spare Purandeshwari hereafter,” she challenged.
